Mangalore: Bhajrangdal activists assault couple at Kankanady

Mangalore, Jan 31,2013: In yet another case of moral policing reported just a day after the raid on an ice cream parlour at Attavar, Bhajrangdal activists on January 31, Thursday, assaulted a couple at Kankanady for allegedly having an illicit affair.

The incident took place on Kankanady New Road, when the activists of the Hindu outfit waylaid the car in which the couple was travelling and assaulted them. Kadri police have taken the couple to the police station for questioning.

Illict affair

According to sources, a married young woman who worked in a service centre at Pumpwell was involved in an affair with the manager of the firm and that both belonged to different religions.

It is also learnt that the woman was married about six months ago but still continued her affair with the manager and that both used to go on drives in the latter’s car. Gathering hint of their affair, the Bhajrangdal chose to target them on Thursday.
