Mangalore, Dec 11, 2012: Sunil Kumar Bajal, CPI(M) leader has alleged that the Bajpe Police as well as the Mangalore Police Commissioner had failed to act, despite a complaint lodged with them regarding a visa cheating case involving a man from Bajpe.
Speaking to reporters, Sunil Kumar alleged that one Ronald Melwyn Furtado who hailed from Bajpe was cheating people after collecting cash from them with a promise to provide visas and passports.

He further said Furtado also visited different countries with multiple names and different passports in benami names like Alwyn Fernandes and Dinesh. Several including people from Kerala have been cheated by Furtado, Sunil Kumar Bajal said.
Neville Wilfy Mascarenhas, a resident of Naguri who is said to have been cheated by Furtado was present at the press meet. Wilfy claimed that he came to know Furtado in Israel where he was taking part in cultural programmes. He said Furtado befriended him and informed that he was ready to assist anyone needing visa. Accordingly, Wilfy said he approached Furtado with a request to get Israeli visa for a friend of his who stayed in Udupi.
Wilfy said the accused demanded a fee of Rs 4 lakhs and introduced him to another person named Raju. He said despite handing over a cash of Rs 3 lakh the visa was not given and Furtado began to give excuses when Wilfy realized that he was a fraud. He said his complaint with the Bajpe police has been futile.
Wilfy also alleged that Furtado had issued fake Israeli passports to over 300 Nepalis residing in India.
