Mangalore, Dec 1, 2012: The annual feast of Blessed Joseph Vaz shrine at Mudipu will be celebrated from December 5 to 7 at Miracle Hill, with the theme “Faith is the Foundation of the family.”


Informing this to reporters here on December 1, Saturday,  Fr Rajesh Madtha, Assistant Parish Priest of the Shrine, said a five day Novena has begun from November 30 and will be held upto December 4, in preparation of the feast.

As part of the celebrations, the Vojyancho Purshanv  or the votive offering procession will be  held on December 2. The procession will begin at 3.30 pm from Mudipu Church and will conclude at the Blessed  Joseph Vaz Shrine at Miracle Hill, Fr Madtha informed.


Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore.  Fr Denis Prabhu,Vicar General of Diocese of Mangalore and Fr Vinod Lobo, Assistant Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Church, Kinnigoli  will be the main celebrants during the three day festivities.


Fr Madtha informed that the main mass will be held  at 10.30 on the days of the feast, while other masses will be held from 4 pm.   Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament will precede  each mass, he added. Fr Madtha also said that  special prayers will be offered for the sick,  the poor and for the donors during the feats. An  Anna Santharpane or mass feeding will also be held on the afternoon of December 7.


Felix D’Souza,Vice President of the Church Committee,  Arun D’Souza, Member of the Executive committee of the shrine and  Stanley Bantwal, Member of Publicity Committee, were also present.
