Malpe : Jilted lover murders young woman in broad daylight

Udupi, Nov 27, 2013 : A young woman  was stabbed to death by a youth  at Kadekar  in Malpe police station limits on November 27, Wednesday after the girl reportedly turned down his love for her.

The deceased is Ranjitha (20) of Patelthota in Kadekar. The accused Yogish (25) was an electrician. It is said both of them were neighbours and Yogish was after Ranjitha since the past one  year, despite Ranjitha not showing any interest towards him.

It is said on Wednesday morning, Yogish  confronted Ranjitha and when she failed to heed to his demand, he  stabbed her before  taking to his heels.

Though Ranjitha who was bleeding profusely was immediately taken to Ajjarkad Government Hospital, doctors there declared her brought dead.

The deceased was a second year BA student at Dr G Shanker Government Women’s First Grade College.  It is learnt, her family had once earlier complained to the police against Yogish. The police had then summoned Yogish to the station and let him after duly warning him.

Police have launched a search for Yogish. Meanwhile some sources said he has attempted suicide.

The body of Ranjitha has been shifted to Manipal Hospital for a post mortem, as per the request of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi leaders.

Malpe police are investigating the case.
