Kasargod, Nov 23, 2013 : Gold valuables worth around Rs 45 lakhs were stolen from the Perla residence of a Mangalore based businessman on November 21, Thursday night.
The occupants of the house came to know about the burglary only during the wee hours of Friday. The house located near the Nalka Jumma Masjid belonged to KN Hameed.
It was only when Hameed’s mother woke up at around 3 am to go to bathroom that she found the front door of the house open. The family members who came to know of the theft of valuables as well as a bike parked in front of the house, immediately informed the Badiadka police.
It has been learnt that the stolen jewels belonged to the brothers of Hameed who are staying overseas. Sources said the thieves who climbed the roofing of a shed outside the house entered the two-floored house through the balcony which had no door. Even the keys of the cupboard were on the table and easily available to the thieves. The thieves have also stolen a camera and mobile phone from the cupboard apart from the jewels.
Senior police officials including SP Thomas Jose have visited the spot. Finger print experts and a dog squad was also pressed into service.
