Mangaluru, Aug 1, 2025: Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta has submitted a request to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging the immediate establishment of a National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in Mangaluru.
Chowta met Amit Shah at his office in New Delhi on Thursday morning and held discussions regarding the matter. He appealed for the setting up of a permanent, fully equipped NIA office in Mangaluru with enhanced intelligence coordination and operational capabilities, which would significantly strengthen security measures across South India.
Highlighting the increasing arrests and terrorist-related activities in the last decade, Chowta stressed the urgent need to fulfill the coastal region’s demand for an NIA office.
He also pointed out that in the investigation of BJP worker Praveen Nettaru’s murder, the NIA has already arrested 21 accused, including key members of the banned PFI organization. The investigation has also uncovered the existence of PFI’s secret Service Team, clandestine meetings, and training centers.
