Further speaking on the subject, he said that around 50 percent of the world’s land mass will be urbanized by 2050 according to expert calculations, adding that even Mangalore will develop quickly in the near future, a fact that will pose a great challenge to the district administration.

Pointing out the fact that Mangalore now occupies 4th rank as far as urbanization is concerned, he said it will soon stand 3rd and voiced his opinion that public awareness is essential for the effective implementation of any sanitation project. He said that MCC has decided to form a people friendly sanitation project for the creation of a healthy society, adding that active public involvement and effective administrative measures will lead to better sanitation policies.

The workshop was inaugurated by Rajani Dugganna, the mayor of Mangalore; and its inaugural session featured a PowerPoint presentation by an ASCI resource person, Seema.
