MCC polls:Congress list out ; Ashraf, Shashidhar Hegde, Lancelot,Gulzar Banu find place

Mangalore, Feb 23, 2013: The list of Congress candidates for the MCC elections is finally ready after a prolonged two day long deliberations. Prominent among those who have secured the party tickets are former mayor Ashraf who had sparked dissidence recently. Ashraf had some time back announced that he would not contest elections.

Other prominent leaders whose names find a mention in the list are Gulzar Banu, Lancelot Pinto from Bejai and B Vishwanath from Alape South. At the same time, even Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor who is an aspirant for assembly polls, has been directed to contest MCC elections.

If a meeting was held at a private  place in Mangalore under the leadership of Congress observers Janardhan Poojari and MLA  NA Harris on Thursday night, on Friday, a 29 member committee   finalized the list at a resort in the outskirts of Mangalore.
