Mangalore, June 22, 2012 : The Lokayukta police arrested a Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) health officer for accepting bribe, on June 22, Friday.
The Lokayukta police caught Bharath Kumar, health officer at MCC, red-handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,500.
Ashley Michael of Balmatta, owner of Elysium Music School, had approached the MCC for a HR consultancy license, but the health officer kept the file pending for two months and demanded money to process it.
Mr. Ashley complained to the Lokayukta, and as per their instructions, he applied certain chemicals to the currency notes and handed them over to the officer, who was thus caught red-handed.
The Lokayukta team comprised Jagamayyanawar, Kawar SP, and Udaya Nayak and Umesh Shet, both Lokayukta inspectors.
