M’lore Police Get Information on Latest Mobile and CCTV Technology

Mangalore, March 27, 2012: An interactive lecture demonstration session on updating the knowledge on latest mobile and CCTV technology was organized for police officials at the Police Commissioner’s office in the city on Monday.

A move initiated by Commissioner Seemanthkumar Singh to create awareness on the latest technologies, the two hour session was attended by as many as 75 police officers and men from the Mangalore Commissionerate.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Rajesh M, a System Administrator from Dubai who is an expert in Integration of Technology and CCTV installations. The programme was coordinated by the Centre for Integrated Learning, a Mangalore based not-for-profit organization.

The session focused on the advantages of the latest mobile technology, CCTV and its usages, incorporating systems that can effectively check crime in the city and such other aspects. The discussions also highlighted the gray areas where the criminals have been taking advantage or rather misusing technology to out beat the police and get away with their criminal activities.

Several questions were raised regarding the systems that need to be adopted in the Mangalore police to investigate certain activities that the criminals resort to using the latest technology. Many of the officials and constables were amazed to see smallest of the chips that could be carried without anyone’s notice carrying several gigabytes of information. The presentation also included some video clips like the great Heist in Dubai where the culprits where finally tracked down through the latest mobile technology.

DCP Mr. Subhashchandra Welcomed the gathering and DCP (Traffic) Mr. Subramanya proposed the vote of thanks. Conevner of Centre for Integrated Learning, S Nandagopal introduced the guest speaker. Rajesh M, an alumni of St Aloysius College is presently the Systems Administrator at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, a Dubai Government owned state enterprise and has been successfully implementing several major projects related to systems integration and CCTV installations and networking. Senior police officials Mr. Muthuraya, Mr, Dharmayya, ACPs, Inspectors, PSIs and the sleuth from the Anti-Rowdy Squad, Cyber Crime Squad among others attended the programme.
