Speaking on the occasion, T V Mohandas Pai, said that his visit to the school was to pay tribute to the great  institution , where his dream to achieve education was fulfilled.

He said that this country was built by great men but we don’t remember them and  dream of these elders who lost their life for the country. The countries population has grown to 1.15 billion and in next 20 years we can be the biggest economy in the world.

Only 12.4 percent  of students aged 18 to 24 are going to colleges and the rest are found working in various places, discontinuing their education and this is the tragedy played by this country. We have to give children a proud country, he urged.

Donors of the new building and patrons of the school were felicitated in the formal function.

MLA Yogish Bhat, Mayor Shankar Bhatt, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Dakshina Kannada, Dr N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, NITTE University, Dr P Dayananda Pai, Chairman, Century Group, Bangalore, P Sathish Pai, Director, Century Groups Bangalore, M Annappa Pai and U Mohandas Nayak were present on the occasion.

The chief guest and other dignitaries were given a tradition welcome by the students of Canara high school.
