Lawyers unwilling to take up case of Manipal gang rape accused

Manipal, Aug 27, 2013 : The three men who have been named prime accused in the case of brutal gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University, have so far not been able to find any lawyer who would take up their case in the court.

It has been gathered that no lawyer from Udupi has evinced interest to fight for the trio namely Yogish, Hariprasad and Anand.

However, Balachandra and Harindra, the elder brothers of Yogish and Hariprasad, who have been arrested on charges of destroying evidences, have been successful in having a lawyer from Udupi to defend them in the court.

Interestingly, the three main accused who were produced before the court on August 26, Monday this time had not covered their faces as in the past three times. Their judicial custody period has been extended till August 30.
