Lawyers to go on strike protesting against proposed bills

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, July 10, 2012: Addressing reporters at a press conference held in Press Club on July 10, Tuesday, S. P. Chengappa, president of the Mangalore Lawyers’ Association, said that the Central Human Resources Department must withdraw some of its proposed bills as they are sure to destroy the independence of lawyers throughout the country.

Further, he said that the Central Human Resources Department, under the leadership of Kapil Sibbal, has proposed a total of six bills, which have already got the approval of the Rajya Sabha. Since these bills threaten the very foundation of democracy and will limit lawyers’ independance to a great extent, they must be withdrawn at the earliest possible, he said.
