Bantwal, Aug 18, 2025: A man has filed a complaint at the Bantwal Town Police Station stating that Rs 1 lakh in cash, which he had brought for purchasing a car, was stolen. The incident came to light two days after the theft.

According to the complaint, Ranganath, a resident of Kundapur, said that two bundles of Rs 50,000 each went missing from his pocket. He had earlier sold a car and was carrying Rs 1.6 lakh in cash, divided into three bundles of Rs 50,000 and one bundle of Rs 10,000.

Bantwal theft

On August 15, he visited Shanti Shop in Kalladka, BC Road, with the cash to purchase a car. However, as the vehicle’s documents were not proper, he stayed at a friend’s house in Kaikamba and later came to BC Road bus stand intending to travel to Kottigehara the next morning.

While boarding the bus, he checked his pocket and found that out of the three ₹50,000 bundles, two were missing — amounting to Rs 1 lakh.

He lodged a complaint at Bantwal Town Police Station. Police have taken up the case and are examining CCTV footage from the area.
