Kundapur, Dec 7, 2012: A poor farmer woman from Macchattu in Amasebail can do nothing but blame herself for her greed. A hidden treasure which she found last year and kept it for herself, has now brought shame to her after she had to face arrest.

Sadhu Poojarti had found treasure including gold ornaments and ancient gold coins worth nearly Rs 5 lakh while sweeping in her farm last year. She was overjoyed and informed her husband Ranga Poojari as well as a neighbour Shekhar Poojari.
Shekhar asked her to keep the treasure with herself and promised to arrange to sell it off a year later, on the condition that she would share the wealth with him.
But recently, Appu Poojari, a relative of Sadhu Poojari somehow came to know of the hidden treasure and coaxed Sadhu Poojarti to sell the same by making her believe that it was not advisable to keep the treasure with oneself.
As Appu made arrangements to sell half of the treasure, Shekhar Poojari got hint of it and enquired about it with Sadhu. When he realized that he would not get his share, he duly informed the police.
Soon, a team of police personnel led by the DySP raided Sadhu Poojarti’s residence and took into custody Sadhu Poojarti, Appu Poojari and Shekhar Poojari. Gold ornaments weighing 205 grams and 25 gold coins apart from a cash of Rs 32,000 were seized.
Sadhu Poojarti meanwhile has been released on bail. Kundapur police are conducting the investigations.
