Kundapur, May 4, 2013: Two persons were hospitalized following a clash between two groups supporting candidates of different political parties at Gopady here on May 3, Friday night.


Girish Upadhyaya, a BJP worker and Gopadi-Beejadi GP member who is one of the injured, in a complaint lodged with the  police had alleged that he was attacked by locals named Venkatesh Acharya, Vinendra Acharya and Ganesh Putran while he was speaking to his friends near Gopady Junction. Upadhyaya who was injured in the attack is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Koteshwara.

Yet another injured person Venkatesh Acharya, who is also physically challenged  has alleged that he was pressurized by Girish Upadhyaya since some days against campaigning for Halady and that on Friday evening, he was pushed and attacked near Gopadi Junction by Upadhyaya, Harish Acharya, Madhava Achar, Dinesh Achar and Ganesh Bhat.


Kundapur police have registered both cases and are conducting investigations.
