Kundapur : Mentally ill man thrashed in public for molestation bid

Kundapur, May 25, 2013 :  A mentally ill man was beaten up black and blue by the public near the Shastri Circle here on May 24, Friday evening, after he allegedly tried to molest a girl and then push her on the middle of the road, resulting in serious injuries.

According to sources, the mentally ill  man tried to molest the girl who was standing on the roadside. When she resisted his move and raised a cry, the man allegedly pushed her onto the road and a speeding bike knocked down the girl leaving her seriously injured. The girl was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Locals who gathered in large numbers, tied the man to an electric pole and thrashed him. He was later taken away by the police.

In another incident, public even took to task the driver of a goods lorry who was driving recklessly, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The matter turned worse when the driver began  to lash out at the public. However, the police who rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control and took the driver to custody.
