Kundapur: Man absconding for 23 years in dowry harassment case arrested

Kundapur, Aug 21, 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Gangolli police have arrested an accused who had been absconding for nearly 23 years in connection with a dowry harassment case.

The accused, Nasir Khan (52), a resident of Sagar taluk in Shivamogga district, had a case registered against him under IPC Sections 498A, 504, 506(2), and Sections 3, 4, and 6 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Absconded accused

Despite summons being issued, the accused had gone into hiding for over two decades without appearing before the court. Acting on reliable information, a police team comprising HC Krishna, PC Prasanna, and PC Sandeep Kurani arrested Nasir Khan at Anandapura in Sagar taluk on August 20, 2025.

He was later produced before the Kundapur court for further legal proceedings.
