Kundapur, June 8, 2014: The Udupi CCB police who were investigating into the case of alleged blackmail of the wife of the chief priest of Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, have succeeded in arresting two of the accused.
Earlier a complaint was lodged stating that Mangala Gowri, the wife of Manjunath Adiga, the Chief Priest was receiving calls threatening to kill Nityananda Adiga, her son. The case was reported in March and the woman had received such calls for about a week. The caller also reportedly threatened to kidnap Nityananda if a cash of Rs 50 lakh was not paid.
One of the arrested Harish Reddy hailing from Kota, but a resident of Kalianpur Santhekatte, is said to be the prime accused in the case. The other accused is Vivek Naik. Police have also seized a country made pistol said to be unlicensed, two bullets, mobile phones and a Maruti 800 car. It has been reliably learnt that the prime accused was arrested from a lodge in Bangalore. But the police claim that the arrest was made at Vandse.
Earlier, two persons have been arrested in the case. It is said the prime accused Harish was wanted in connection with several cases including the Bailakere Seena murder case.
