Kundapur : Cops crack mystery behind suspicious death of woman; 1 arrested

Kundapur, Nov 18, 2013 :  The Kundapur police have busted the mystery behind the  suspicious death of Mangala Kharvi (36), an Agrigold agent whose body was found at Maravanthe beach on September 20.

A person named Satish Kharvi, a close relative of the deceased has been arrested in connection with the murder.

 The arrested  is  the cousin of Raju Kharvi, the husband of Mangala. Police investigations into the case have revealed that an illicit affair between Mangala and the accused Satish culminated in the murder of the former by the latter.

Mangala’s husband was a fishermen and was out on fishing when she went missing and was subsequently found dead on the beach the next day. It is learnt  that Mangala who was issueless, on realising that she cannot beget children from her husband  had  sought Satish’s help to father a child for her. Even as they continued their illicit relationship, Satish got engaged. This was not acceptable to Manjula who reportedly began to blackmail Satish who eventually decided to finish her.

On October 19, the two had been to Kundapur, Udupi and then to Maravanthe beach where a quarrel broke out and Satish strangled her to death with her saree and then dumped the body in the sea.

The police who had initially arrested Satish had let him free after interrogations. But, as investigations progressed they realized that he was the culprit. Satish divulged the truth only after he was detained the second time. The accused was produced before the court on November 16, Saturday.
