Kundapur : Confusion prevails at postal ballot centre

Kundapur,April 30, 2013 :  Utter confusion prevailed at the Kundapur Government Pre-University College and the St Mary’s School here on April 29, Monday due to the disorderly arrangements made for the postal ballot to facilitate officials of various departments  who are deputed on poll duty.

 Training  programme had also been arranged at the two centres  on the election procedures for the officials. Over 1000 officials  had arrived for the event. But, nearly 40 per cent of the officials could not exercise their franchise through postal ballot as their names were not found in the voters’ list.

The tahsildar Gayatri Nayak who was present on the occasion, took the officials to task for the disorderly arrangements. Even Additional DC Kumar, Kundapur Assistant Commissioner and Election Officer Yogishwar visited the spot.

Later speaking to reporters, Yogishwar said  a total of 627  out of the total 1020 who had applied for postal ballot, had exercised their franchise on Monday. He also clarified that there was confusion as the training programme as well as postal ballot were arranged simultaneously.

Stating that there was no need for worry, he said  the rest can exercise their franchise on April 30 and May 2 at the special counter opened at the Kundapur Taluk office.
