Kundapur: 2 teenagers meet watery grave in Sowparnika river

Kundapur, Jan 14,2013: Two youngsters  met a  watery grave in the Sowparnika river at Aloor near here on January 13, Sunday.

 

The mishap occurred when five friends went to the river for a swim to enjoy the holiday, only for two of them to meet a watery grave.

The deceased are Dhanraj Shetty (14), son of Ravindra and Sheelavathi Shetty and Shivaraj Shetty (18), son  of Sitaram and Rajeevi Shetty.


The other boys who were with them were   Sachin and Sampanna who were students in Delhi and had come home town on holidays and Kapil from Aloor.


The mishap took place when five friends had gone for a swim in the river near the Huntanagodi Durgaparameshwari Temple. It is reported that the two got washed away in the currents and could not be saved despite efforts by locals.


If Shivaraj was an first year diploma student  at RNS College Murdeshwar, Dhanraj was an eighth standard student at VKR School, Kundapur.
Gangolli police have registered a case.
