Kundapur : 1 killed, 12 injured as two buses collide

Kundapur, May 7, 2013 : One person was killed and 12 others sustained injuries when a speeding bus collided with another bus on the Koteshwar-Halady Road on May 6, Monday.

Reports said the speeding bus belonging to Manjunath Motors was heading towards Jaddinagudde from Kundapur when it hit another bus, rammed against a roadside tree before overturning.

The deceased has been identified as Girish (30). The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. The injured include a couple including a pregnant woman and a student who was returning after appearing for exams.

The other bus involved in the accident belonged to Hanuman Motors and was on way to Kundapur from Shimoga. The presence of mind of the driver of the Hanuman Motors bus was much appreciated by the locals. The driver who had sensed danger had taken the bus towards the side and lowering the bus into a gutter.

Several locals rushed to the spot and helped in shifting the injured to the hospital.

sad that speeding bus and accidents are increasing day by day.Still we can’t stop them from this kind of tragedies.may Girish soul rest in peace and ma prayers for all the others who have been injured and are in critical.
