Mangaluru, Apr 19, 2016: The police who are investigating into the recent case of attempt on the life of a BJP worker named Bharatraj from Krishnapura, have arrested two persons who reportedly provided vehicles to the accused who attacked Bharatraj. The incident had taken place on April 13.
Those arrested are Abdul Khader (37) from Kalavar and Mohammad Sharief (47) of Krishnapura. The duo was produced before the court on April 18, Monday and remanded to judicial custody.
Bharatraj who was passing through Krishnapur Math Road in his bike on April 13 was intercepted by nearly four to five youth who came by a Scorpio vehicle after hitting the vehicle against the bike. Two of the accused had then attacked Bharatraj who had fallen on the road due to the impact of the collision. Luckily, Bharatraj managed to escape while the accused too had taken to their heels and had left the place after abandoning their vehicle as well as the weapons.
Meanwhile, a BJP delegation led by former minister Krishna Palemar who is also the North Block BJP Chief, met Mangaluru Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar and demanded arrest of all the accused in the case at the earliest. The delegation also expressed resentment against the failure of the cops to nab the culprits and warned of a protest.
Shanker Bhat, Monappa Bhandari, Nitin Kumar and other BJP leaders were present.
