Koppa youth arrested in Suratkal for fleeing with 17 yr girl, raping her

Mangalore, Mar16, 2014 : Suratkal police have arrested Sangamesh (23) hailing from Koppa for allegedly raping a 17 year old neighbouring girl.

youth arrest1 It is learnt, Sangamesh who stayed in a rented house at Suratkal was having an affair with the girl who lived in his neighbourhood. Sources say both had taken a bus to Belgaum on March 11 and had visited Yellamma Temple at Savadatti. Later they married at a temple and stayed in a lodge.

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother had lodged a complaint of missing at Suratkal police station. But the young pair later returned to Suratkal and appeared at the local police station.

Though Sangamesh says he married the girl as she forced him to do so, a case of rape has been registered against him. However, the girl has made an appeal to the police to free her husband.

Some personnel from the Suratkal police station have also left for Belgaum for further investigation into this case.
