Mangaluru, Aug 19, 2025: The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) has collected ₹2.37 crore in fines from passengers travelling without a ticket on trains in its jurisdiction since April 1 this year.
A release here said the corporation has regularly been conducting intensive ticket checking drives on trains operating through its network to curb ticketless travel and to aid authorised passengers to travel in comfort.
From the beginning of the financial year 2025–26 to date, 3,765 ticket checking drives have been conducted. During these drives, 40,602 cases of unauthorised/irregular travellers were detected and penalised, resulting in the collection of ₹2,37,11,161 through fines.
With the upcoming Ganesha Chaturthi, the number of passengers travelling on the KR route is expected to increase significantly. KRCL has appealed to all passengers to travel with valid tickets, so as to avoid any inconvenience.
The corporation will continue to conduct intensified ticket checking drives across its entire route, especially during this festive season, to ensure safe and comfortable travel for all authorised passengers, the release said.
