Kasargod, May 11, 2013 : A BBM student of a college in Mangalore has been arrested by the police on the charges of defrauding banks to the tune of over Rs 3 lakhs after . The local police have arrested a student on the charges of opening bank accounts by providing fake documents online, and then defrauding two banks to the extent of over Rs three lakhs.
The accused is Fazil (19) a resident of Ulloor in Tiruvananthapuram. It is said, he misused the driving licence of one Abdul Zunair Muneer from Hosangady, and created certain papers and availed loans from two banks in Kasargod and Kozhikode.
He then put up an ad on internet on sale of costly mobile phones. Some from Bangalore and Mysore lured by the ad had remitted cash to his account and had later lodged police complaints after they realized that they were cheated.
Initially the police subject Muneer to interrogation and on the basis of details provided by him arrested Fazil.
