Karnataka tops in corruption under BJP rule: Parameshwar

Udupi, Feb 1, 2013 : KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar has charged the BJP of disturbing the communal harmony in the district in the name of religion in the past four and a half years.

Addressing a public meeting at Kaup on January 31, Thursday, as part of the Congress Padayatra, the KPCC Chief  said the coastal districts which were once known for   peace and amity, has lost its image, thanks to the BJP. He said the Congress Padayatra aimed at reinstating the much needed communal amity and hoped it would succeed in its endeavour.


He said the BJP which came to power promising a  flourishing Karnataka has converted the state into a number one state in corruption.


Opposition leader Siddaramaiah who too spoke, said the Shettar government was dead, but was only functioning through a ventilator. He said the Congress demanded the  resignation of Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar as many more in his government were actually  in the Yeddyurappa camp.


Siddaramaiah took strong exception to the statement of Deputy CM Eshwarappa questioning the  strength of the Congress and demanded that  such words did not befit the post he was holding.,”Let them dissolve the assembly if they have the guts and face fresh election,” he challenged.


Several Congress leaders including B Janardhan Poojari, CM Ibrahim, BL Shanker Bhojaraj, MP Jayaprakash Hegde, MLAs Gopal Bhandari, UT Khader, Gopal Poojari, Veronica Carenlio, Gurme suresh Shetty, Vasanth Salian, MA Gafur were  present.


Later, speaking to reporters, Parameshwar said he came to known only through the media that former union minister SM Krishna has been summoned to Delhi by the high command.


On Thursday, the Congress Padayatra covered a distance of 19kms from Mulki to Pangala. The Padayatra will conclude at Malpe on February 1, Friday.
