Bengaluru, Dec 5, 2021: Karnataka on Sunday reported 456 positive cases of Covid-19, taking the total tally to 29,98,099. The state logged six deaths and the total death toll is pegged at 38,230.
A total of 29,52,708 people have been discharged till date, data from the state health department revealed and 330 people recovered in the last 24 hours.
The number of active cases in the state stands at 7,132 and the positivity rate is 0.41 per cent. Bengaluru Urban remained the major contributor of COVID-19 cases with 256 fresh infections and two deaths.
In a major Covid outbreak, as many as 69 students and teachers have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya residential hostel in Seegodu village in Chikkamagalur district. As per the reports, the health department swung into action after three students and four staff tested positive for the virus. The swab samples of 418 students and staff were collected and were sent for testing.All students are asymptomatic and the residential school has been sealed down.
