Karkala: Supporters of Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi held for obstructing police, ramming ASP’s vehicle

Karkala, Aug 22, 2025: In a dramatic incident, supporters of Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi allegedly tried to block police officials while they were escorting him to Brahmavar for an enquiry.

Police said that on Thursday, August 21, Thimarodi — arrested in connection with a complaint filed at Brahmavar police station — was being taken there for questioning. While en route, a group of his supporters reportedly trailed the police convoy despite repeated warnings not to interfere.

Near Hosmar, under Karkala Rural police limits, the supporters allegedly rammed their car into the official vehicle of the Udupi district Additional Superintendent of Police (Reg. No. KA20G0669) in an attempt to stop police from taking the accused to the station.

Following the incident, Karkala Rural police registered a new case. The arrested supporters have been identified as Srujan L, Hitesh Shetty, and Sahan, all residents of Ujire. They were produced before court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police also seized a white Swift car (Reg. No. KA70M3048) said to have been used in the obstruction.

The original case was registered after Rajeev Kulal lodged a complaint alleging that Thimarodi made derogatory remarks against B L Santhosh, BJP’s national general secretary (organisation).
