Karkala: Bailur hotelier Krishnaraj Hegde dies by suicide

Karkala, Aug 19, 2025: Krishnaraj Hegde (Tamanna), aged 45, a hotelier and a well-known social and religious leader from Bailur, has died by suicide. It is reported that he consumed poison at his residence in Atradi. The exact reason behind the suicide is not yet known.

Hegde was serving as the secretary of the Nayerbetu Religious Service Committee of the Bailur–Kouduru Mariamma Temple. He also ran a hotel business in Udupi–Manipal and was actively involved in various religious and social organizations. Hiriyadka police are investigating the case.

Expressing condolences, MLA Sunil Kumar said:
“The untimely demise of businessman and close associate Krishnaraj Hegde (Tamanna) of Bailur is deeply saddening and painful. A young entrepreneur, he was also active in social service and played a key role in several organizations. He was a constant supporter of our programs, served as secretary of the Bailur Mariamma Temple, and successfully managed his hotel business for many years. It is hard to believe that Tamanna is no longer with us. His demise is an irreparable loss to society. I pray for the departed soul and for strength to his family, relatives, and friends to bear this grief.”
