Kadaba, Aug 19, 2025: A student of Kumbra’s Markazul Huda Women’s College has accomplished a rare feat by painstakingly handwriting the entire Quran using an ink pen.

The student, Sajla, a B.Com undergraduate from Baitadka in Kaniyur village of Kadaba taluk, is the daughter of Ismail and Zahra Jasmine. She began this remarkable task in January 2021 and completed it in August 2025, dedicating nearly five years to the project.

Sajla-Handwritten Quran in 5 years

For her handwritten manuscript, Sajla used white, light blue, and light green sheets of paper, writing with a black ink pen. The Quran spans 604 pages, weighs around 14 kg, and is bound with a protective red-and-gold cover.

“Writing a single page would take me about four hours. On some days, I managed two pages in eight hours. Altogether, I completed it in 302 days, spending nearly 2,416 hours,” she said.

The handwritten Quran was formally unveiled and her achievement honoured at Markazul Huda Women’s College, Kumbra. The manuscript was released by Yaseen Sakhafi Al Azhari, a Mudarris at Markaz Knowledge City, Kerala.
