Mangaluru, July 29, 2025: The KSRTC Mangaluru division has expanded its fleet with the launch of two new Volvo multi-axle seater buses and three Ambari Utsav air-conditioned sleeper buses. The vehicles were flagged off at the Bejai depot on July 28.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, who officiated the launch, emphasized the need for infrastructure upgrades within the division. Highlighting that KSRTC holds around 6.5 acres of land in Mangaluru, he proposed that it be developed to improve commuter facilities. D’Souza pledged to bring up the issue in the upcoming legislative session and consult the transport minister on the matter.
Divisional Controller Rajesh Shetty announced that, for the first time, a day-service AC sleeper bus will run between Mangaluru and Bengaluru. The Ambari Utsav sleeper will depart Mangaluru at 1 p.m. and arrive in Bengaluru by 8:30 p.m., while the Volvo Multi-Axle 2.0 seater service will leave in the morning and reach by 5:30 p.m. Additionally, an AC sleeper service via Puttur–Sullia–Madikeri has also been introduced.
The event was attended by KSRTC guarantee committee district president Bharat Mundodi, Mangaluru taluk president Surendra Kambli, former MCC member S Appi, divisional traffic officer Kamal Kumar, assistant traffic manager Nirmala, depot manager Preeth Kumari, and Depot-3 manager Manjunath.
