KS Hegde Hospital launches Mangala Kshema and Makkala Kshema Health Cards

Mangalore, March 15, 2012: Mangala Kshema and Makkala Kshema Health Cards were launched at the K. S. Hedge Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte on Wednesday, 14th March 2012. The cards brought out through the aegis of the National Insurance Company was launched for application to MCF employees, their families and children by K. Prabhakar Rao, Director (Works) MCF.

Dr. Arunachalam Kumar, Dean, K. S. Hegde Medical Academy, in his welcome address mentioned that Kshema was perhaps the only medical college maintaining 18 Primary or Secondary Health care centers, almost thrice the number required for a medical institute.

Dr. Satheesh Bhandary, Vice Dean, highlighted the various salient benefits and coverage extended through these health cards for the community. Prabhakar Rao said that he was happy that MCF was tying up with a committed institute such as Kshema for health care schemes.

Dr. Shantharam Shetty, Vice Chancellor of Nitte University stressed on the importance of child health in national development. He said that India had the largest population of children in the world and that the onus was on industry-institution cooperation in extending health to this large population.

Mr. N. Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University said he was hopeful that schemes such as this one will prove to be a boon to society and that community health and education were very dear to the heart of the founder of the Nitte group of institutions, Justice K S Hegde.  A large number of school children, teachers and representatives from NGOs were present at the function.
