KPT, ABVP protest against rape and murder of Sowjanya

Mangalore, Oct 12, 2012: Karnataka Polytechnic College (KPT), under the leadership of Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP), organized a protest near KPT Circle on Oct 12 Friday against the rape and murder of 17-year-old Sowjanya.

The protestors demanded that all the culprits should be arrested and severely punished at the earliest possible.

The protestors formed a human chain around KPT Circle as part of their protest. Strongly condemning the crime, they said that it is a shame on civilized society. Stating that the incident has terrified college girls, they demanded that the case should be thoroughly investigated and the culprits should be punished at the earliest possible.

The ABVP demanded proper protection for college girl students so that such incidents can be prevented from happening again. Demanding that the case must not be closed owing to lack of evidence, he said that the case should not be treated like an ordinary case either. He also demanded justice not only for Sowjanya’s family, but also to the public.

They then submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
