KDSS oppose anti Dalit policy in Mangalore University

Mangalore, July 23, 2013: Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi state union convener M Devdas said that the Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivashankarmurthy have suspended three office bearers of Mangalore University Non Teaching staffs union.

Speaking at the press meet held on July 23, Tuesday, he said that the VC has suspended Govinda Matti, Vijayraj H and Ravi Prakash who had opposed the infrastructural work commenced for 400 meter track in the site reserved for the establishment of quarters for the non teaching staffs.

He also said that the members along with KDSS district Unit Corporation met VC personally to inform about the construction of track in the wrong site and submitted the memorandum on May 23, 2012. But even after requesting, VC did not respond for their request and instead sent a show cause notice to them and suspended them on June 4, 2012. This is the injustice made towards the Dalit workers and their family.

Hence he urged VC and chancellor to cancel their suspension order without delay and give them the opportunity to render their service. He also warned them to stage violent protest if they delay to cancel their suspension.

KDSS district convener R C Amin, Udupi-Mangalore divisional convener Shekar Hejamady, district convener Raghu K Ekkar and other were present.
