The purpose of organizing this camp was to create awareness among the common people about various government schemes, application forms in government offices, solutions to common legal problems, newly implemented government schemes, and so on.

President of Mangalore Bar Association S P Changappa welcomed the gathering and explained the objectives of the camp.

H R Deshpande, the principal district and sessions judge, made an inaugural speech in which he said that complete information on all the 600 - 800 kinds of law covered in the Indian Constitution is not available. He said: “Everybody complains that justice is delayed; therefore, everybody must have a basic working knowledge of law in order to avoid getting into legal problems.”

First Additional District Sessions Judge Anchate Sanjeev Kumar, presided over the programme and said that people need to be aware of the laws that pertain to day-to-day living. Many people are under the misconception that law is meant only for lawyers, judges, and the court, which is a completely wrong way to think. He also said that the number of legal problems will decline if people give themselves the required legal education.

Senior advocates Premnath and Udayanand were the resource persons.

Principal Civil Judge Anand N Pattana, President of Kudroli Sri Bhagavathi Temple Ganesh Kuntalpadi, industrialist Rohidas Bangera, Temple Administrator V Ananda, President of Sri Bhagavathi Co-operative Bank K Narayana, and President of Yuvajana Seva Samithi Lokesh Bolar were present at the inaugural.
