Journalists appeal to SP for stern action against assailants who targeted scribe in Vittal

 Mangalore, Nov 29, 2013: A delegation of journalists  met District Superintendent of Police Shantanu Sinha here on November 28, Thursday and submitted a memorandum to him  urging for immediate arrest  of all the  assailants who were responsible for the brutal attack on VT Prasad, the Vittal correspondent of a Kannada eveninger at Madakatte in Kolnad on November 27, Wednesday.

 The memorandum submitted to the SP alleged that some fundamentalist group was behind the attack and demanded a thorough probe into the same and   stringent legal action against the assailants.

The memorandum also urged the SP to subject to counseling the woman who has filed a complaint against the journalist and alleged that the Law against Rape was being used to victimize journalists.

The SP who accepted the memorandum assured that the department would initiate stern action against the culprits.

Journalists Naveen Soorinje, Pushparaj Shetty, Taranath Kapikad and others were in the delegation. They also submitted a recorded audio of the incident to the SP.
