Jackfruit festival at Agricultural Science Centre, Ekkur

Mangalore, June 23, 2012: A Jackfruit festival-2012 organised at the Agricultural Science Centre at Ekkur was inaugurated on June 23, Saturday by KT Shailaja Bhat, Zilla Panchayat President. The programme was organized in association with Karnataka Veterinary and Fisheries Science University, Bidar.

Addressing the gathering she said that the Jackfruit festival-2012 organized to give information on the scientific value of the Jackfruit emerged out very much useful to the farmers.

Inaugurating the exhibition stalls, ZP CEO Vijaya Prakash said that the Jackfruit is the income earning fruit and it would be helpful if more information is provided on the fruit and more breeds are introduced.

Mr Sampath Samrajya, Member of the Board of Management of University of Horticulture Science, Dr. Hanumanthappa, Rohinaksha Rai, KM Shankar were present on the occasion.

Different breeds and products of Jackfruits were put up in the exhibition that will be held on June 23 and 24.
