Mangalore, Sep 8, 2012: The JD(S), DK and Udupi units, organized a massive protest in support of farmers in Manipal and Mangalore on September 7, Friday. The protest march ended at the DC’s office in Mangalore and Manipal.
The protestors then presented a memorandum to Governor H. R. Bharadwaj, in which they urged the state government to revive the Brahmavar Sugar Factory at the earliest to help the farmers.
They also demanded distribution of title deeds among poor people, sites for the landless, regularization of poor people’s sites, proper distribution of ration cards, adequate compensation for families displaced by UPCL, Suzlon, and Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd, and much more.
The protestors also flayed the BJP and the UPA, accusing them of being anti-people and involved in scams and scandals.
