Mangalore, Sep 18, 2013: JD(S) Supremo and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda has that the biggest blunder of the party was to partner with the Congress in 2004 to form the government and with the BJP in 2006.
Speaking to reporters at the Circuit House on September 18, Wednesday, Deve Gowda said henceforth there was no question of the party entering into any coalition with any national party.
Stating that he will make all out efforts to strengthen the organization of the party in the state, Deve Gowda said he has made a beginning in this direction in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. During the first phase the campaign will also be in Shimoga and Hassan, he said adding during the second phase he would visit Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur, Koppal and Chitradurga.
Commenting on national politics, Gowda was highly critical of the silence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh even when his government was embroiled in a number scams. He said the party would decide its candidates for all 28 LS constituencies in the state by October end.
On the JD(S) appointing a new State President, Deve Gowda said the situation in the Congress was so bad that A Krishnappa has defected the Congress to be a part of the JD(S) and is now its State President.
A Krishnappa who was present on the occasion said this was his first visit to Mangalore in his capacity as State JD(S) Chief. Stating that he had a greater responsibility on his shoulders now, Krishnappa exuded confidence that the party can easily win at least 15 to 16 seats in the next elections.
