Mangalore, Dec 24, 2012: Christmas is here. The most awaited festival of the year, the festival of joy, peace, sharing and happiness is being celebrated by Christian brethren all over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts with the true spirit of Christmas. The exchange of Christmas greetings, the sharing of Kuswar has doubled the joy of Christmas.





The festive spirit is in the air. The Christmas eve mass was held in Churches in Mangalore on the evening of December 24. The festive mass and singing of Carols ushered in the spirit of Christmas as joy filled the air. All the churches are decorated with festive lightings, while the Cribs set up at the Church premises illustrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the savior.
Hundreds of people of the respective parishes attended the Christmas eve mass at Milagres Church, Rosario, St Sebastian Church, Bendore and Cordel Church, Kulshekhar among a host of other churches.
If the Christmas eve mass used to begin at 11 pm till midnight in the past, in the recent years it begins late evening and ends by 10 pm in most of the churches, to ensure safety of the devotees returning home.
In Udupi : Udupi too is celebrating Christmas with great fervor. Various parishes held Christmas eve mass on December 24.
The Festive Mass at Milagres Cathedral, Kalianpur, was led by Bishop of Udupi Diocese Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo. The mass was also held at different churches including Holy Rosary Church, Kundapur, Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva, St Antony’s Church, Sasthan and UBM Church, Udupi among other churches.
