Independence Cup Football Tourney begins on July 20

Mangalore, Jul 18, 2013: Dakshina Kannada District Football Association (DKDFA) affiliated to Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) will organise the 17th Independence Cup Football Tournament at Nehru Maidan Football Ground. The tournament will begin on  July 20, Saturday at 9.30 a.m.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on July 18, Thursday, Association president D M Aslam said that Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Abhayachandra Jain will inaugurate the 27-day tournament. The tournament  would be held in six categories including higher primary school (boys and girls), high school (boys and girls), P.U. College (boys) and professional colleges (boys).

A total of 200 teams from all categories have registered for the tournament and the final match in the high school, P U college and professional college categories will be played on August 15.

The last date for the registration of teams from P.U. and professional colleges is July 26, he said.

DKDFA Joint Secretary Yuvaraj Bengre, KSFA member Vijaya Suvarna and Treasurer Anil P V were present.
