Mangalore, Aug 22, 2012: Addressing reporters at a press conference held today, Akhil Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) State Secretary Ramesh K. said that the Assam riots have been purposely created by illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, who are involved in a number of anti-national activities.
Further elaborating on the issue, he said that these immigrants have forcefully and illegally occupied land after entering India without a passport or a visa and have disrupted harmony in North Eastern states such as Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram and in Assam. Taking advantage of this situation, a number of other parties are also trying to create disharmony in the nation. He called this a result of the central government’s vote bank politics.
Expressing support for North East Indian students, he said that the ABVP will always protect them from harm.
Stating that the ABVP has been trying to spread awareness regarding illegal immigrants from Bangladesh from 1993, he said that nobody listened to the parishad. Further, he said that the parishad had conducted a survey of all states bordering Bangladesh in 2008 and had submitted its findings in the form of a report to the then president and prime minister of India.
ABVP City Secretary Yathish Kumar P. was also present.
