Mangalore, July 21, 2013: Icy Creamz, the city’s first icy stone creamery promoted by Hangyo, celebrated World Ice Cream Day this Sunday by offering a hefty discount of 20% during the afternoon hours.

Pradeep Pai, managing director of Hangyo Gourmet Pvt. Ltd., hosted a Sunday Brunch for media persons and introduced several new products including the delicious Indonesian Sambhal Veg. Wrap, Tandoori Aloo Cheese Roll, Indonesian Sambhal Chicken Wrap and Chicken Chettinad Roll, which is being offered by the outlets.

 

Icy stone is an innovative concept of preparing ice cream cocktails on the spot using an ‘Icy Stone’ or frozen granite stone for mixing the ingredients. Situated at Divya Deepa Arcade, Bendorewell in the city Hangyo’s Icy Creamz outlet offers a variety of ice creams, icy stone cocktails, sundaes and fast food too like pizzas, wraps and rolls.

World Ice Cream Day is an upgrade of the National Ice Cream Month is celebrated each year in July in the United States. President Ronald Reagan had designated July 1984 as National Ice Cream Month and July 15, 1984 as National Ice Cream Day with Presidential Proclamation 5219 in 1984.

President Reagan recognized the popularity of ice cream in the United States (90% of the nation’s population consumes ice cream) and stated that these two events should be observed with "appropriate ceremonies and activities." Today, National Ice Cream Month is celebrated each July and National Ice Cream Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in July, even though the presidential proclamation only mentioned the month and date in 1984.
