IT Vision Mangalore 2020 to create 50,000 jobs; aims to earn Rs 20,000 cr

Mangalore, Feb 5, 2013: Ramdas Kamath, Senior Vice-President (administration), Infosys said that it has been targeted to create 50,000 new jobs in the IT sector in Mangalore as part of the IT Vision Mangalore 2020.


Speaking at a press meet  after a  day long session organized by KCCI  in the city on February 5, Tuesday, he said the IT service sector  aims to explore 1,30,000 software employees. He said it has been targeted to generate a revenue of Rs 20,000 crore under the IT vision.

Kiran D Shah, CEO  of Velankani Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Bangalore who also spoke on the occasion said a team  has been formed in Mangalore to facilitate implementation of IT Vision Mangalore 2020.


The vision is headed by different people from various sectors, he added.


KCCI President Mohammed Ameen and  M N Pai were present at the press meet.


Earlier, at KCCI  both Shah and TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman, KICTG gave a presentation on ‘Road Map to Undisputed Global Leadership in Information and Communication Technology by 2020’ in the presence of industry representatives of Mangalore.


Shah said the revenue following implementation of the project would rise to Rs 20,000 crores as against the Rs 1800 cr to Rs 2000 cr at present. He also stated that 100 new business establishments will be started in the city.


He said the team would be submitting report to the state government within a month.
