Mangalore, August 20: CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda,  who visited Mangalore Airport on August 20, Saturday, told reporters that no hidden decision regarding mining will be taken under his leadership and that he will not protect any representative who is found to be guilty. He assured that any minister who is found to be guilty will be severely punished.


When asked about Matha Chemicals and Matha Minerals, which were mentioned in the Lokayukta report, the minister said that the names of all the guilty ministers will be soon revealed and that they will be dealt with severely.

He said that the Lokayukta’s interim report is no longer required because the final report has already been submitted, adding that the final report will include even the interim report. 


Speaking on the CEC report, he said that, at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the chief secretary and the principal secretary along with other representatives will be called for a meeting. The decision taken will, however, depend on the Supreme Court order. 


When reporters asked him about the hike in electricity and milk rates, he said that electricity charges will be raised only after finding out the cost of purchasing electricity from external sources. Since KERC is an independent body, the government cannot interfere with the KERC, he said while promising that the government will take a decision once the prices are hiked. 


He also said that he had promised to meet the Congress leaders during the district tour, but will try next time. Regarding Yeddyurappa’s statements of coming back to power in 6 months, he said that only Yeddyurappa can give clarifications regarding his statement. 


Regarding corruption, he said that he will hold a video conference with the DCs and tahsildars and will discuss the issue with them. 


CM Sadananda Gowda’s wife Datty; Dr. V. S. Acharya, the higher education minister; and Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister were also present. 


The chief minister will go to Udupi and will leave for Bangalore tomorrow evening. On Monday, he is scheduled to visit Alamatti, Bijapur, and Belgaum, when he will meet the DCs and other representatives of 20 departments to talk about developmental issues.
