Hussain’s Sanji Mask workshop enthralls children

Mangalore, August 29, 2013: Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy inaugurated a one day Sanji Mask workshop held at auditorium of Canara High School, Urwa on August 29, Thursday.


Sevanjali Charitable Trust, Mangalore organized the workshop on Sanji Art, conducted by the national level artist Mysore Hussain of Bangalore. The workshop was conducted in morning and afternoon session.

Around 188 students, 20 teachers and 8 parents participated in the workshop.
Hussain’s demo on Sanji Art by folding and cutting the plain papers artistically enthralled the children.  


Speaking on the occasion, he said that Sanji art is well-known as Kirigami in Japan, it is less exposed in India. 


He also said that he has been doing the art from past 12 years and touring around the places to teach children from 5 years.  He has completed touring entire Karnataka and it is a 21st district he is conducting the workshop. The art gives exercise for the finger tip and this kind of art in Japan is used as therapy, he added.


In this world of stress and pressure, when one gets an opportunity to get a glimpse of art with naïve expressions and treatment in the form of paper, canvas or any other medium, it’s a feast to the eye, he said.


Venky Palimar, Veena Sriinivas, Ashok Pandit, Vedavyas Kamath and others were present at the event.
