Mangalore, May 20, 2014: Mangalore City Mayor - the first citizen of this city - and the Deputy Mayor were honoured at a function yesterday May 19, by KCCI - Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mangalore. Addressing the people present the Hon.

A systematic agenda was chalked out to identify the bad spots and get people to co-operate in providing proper information base for suitable actions to be taken, also involve more common people for better results in improving the amenities needed by all. A paperless MCC would contribute to a streamlined working.
Giving assurance of constructing footpaths and storm water drains as also other necessities in the city he detailed some vital needs. He expressly requested the cooperation of people to control the spread of vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue.
KCCI president Mohammed Ameen delivered a petition detailing issues that required immediate attention and urgent action for such problems like total solid waste management, construction of footpaths for pedestrians and underground drainage, review of self-assessment scheme, shortage of drinking water in the city and water management, improvement of Nehru Maidan, development of IT projects in Dakshina Kannada, setting up a full-fledged tourism office in the city and preserving the historic Old Mangalore Port -Bundar. The rotten hygiene situation surrounding Bundar was pointed out to the Hon.Mayor.
President Mohd.Ameen welcomed the gathering and KCCI secretary Rammohan Pai Maroor extended thanks to all concerned.
