Home stay attack accused to be booked under Goonda Act

Subash padil 12aug4 1Mangalore, Aug 5, 2012: R. Ashok, deputy chief minister and home minister of Karnataka, announced on Saturday that the chief accused in the Mangalore home stay attack will be charged under the Goonda Act. 


Interacting with reporters on the sidelines of a workshop on technology-driven management and enforcement at police headquarters in Mangalore, he said that 23 of the 27 accused have been arrested. 


He assured that none of the accused will be spared. 


When a reporter wanted to know what he thought about Chairperson of Karnataka Women’s Commission C. Manjula’s statement that the police did not do their duty, Mr. Ashok said that the police did their best, acted swiftly, and arrested 8 of the accused on the very day of the attack. 


Additional Director General of Police Bipin Gopalakrishna said that the attack is being investigated and the final report will be submitted to the state government in three days.
